Editorial standards

How we decide what to print.

The rules every writer, editor and reviewer works to. If we fall short of them, we want to hear about it.

Evidence first

  • Clinical claims cite peer reviewed research, listed in the Sources at the end of each article.
  • We prefer large, recent and well designed studies, and we say so when the evidence is thin.
  • We report what a study measured, not what we hoped it found.

Clinical review

Every article in Clinical Review is checked by a physician on our reviewer board before publication. The reviewer's name and the date of the last review appear beside the article.

Faith honest

Each article carries one faith tag: Stewardship, Mental Sabbath, Ethical Style, Clinical. Tags describe the theme of a piece. They never change the clinical standard it is held to, and we keep spiritual reflection clearly apart from scientific findings.

Independence

We accept no sponsorship, advertising or affiliate payments, and sell no supplements. Writers and reviewers declare any conflict of interest, and we publish it with the article.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it quickly and say so. A dated correction note is added to the end of the article explaining what changed. Significant clinical corrections are also noted in the next Sunday Letter.

To report an error, write to info@centralhealthmag.com with the article title and what you believe is wrong.
